Getinge Ventilator terminal sterilizers (GEVs)

Excellent heat transfer
Centrifugal fan driven by powerful (typ. 7kW) motor via a purpose designed mechanical seal, A stainless steel fan is installed in the ceiling of the chamber. The fan is driven by a powerful electric motor via a purpose designed mechanical seal mounted on top of the autoclave. The dual mechanical seals are cooled and lubricated with WFI. During heating and sterilization, the fan runs at low speed to maintain a homogenous environment while during cooling, the speed is increased to maximize airflow and reduce cooling time. |

Optimized Cooling
Batteries of stainless steel heat exchangers for rapid cooling. No internal chamber connections. Heat exchangers are fabricated from seamless stainless steel tubing wound into tightly packed batteries. The connections to these batteries are made externally to the chamber using a unique assembly that passes through the chamber wall. The heat exchangers present a very large surface area to the circulating air to optimize cooling. Chilled water is circulated through the heat exchanger system to effect the cooling. |

Internal liner system to control airflow and ensure homogeneity
A liner is installed within the chamber, forming an inner chamber, the loading space. The fan is mounted in the chamber ceiling behind the liner top section while the heat exchangers are mounted behind the liner at the chamber walls. This ensures that the air/steam are routed in a circulation pattern from the top, down the sides (over the heat exchangers and in contact with the chamber walls) and up through the load, back to the fan inlet. This circulation pattern assures homogeneity and uniformity of temperature distribution, together with an optimized, rapid process. |

Sterile, Cool, Dry product, ready for handling
A principle benefit of the GEV is the ability to dry the product while cooling. This means the product can be transported directly to the next process after sterilization |
| |
Zone Control
A patented feature of Getinge GEV sterilizers is the ability to control and validate the machine to sterilize part loads. So, for example, if you reach the end of a batch run and have filled two racks of product, you can sterilize these without the need to wait until you have a full load. |

Getinge Circulating Water Terminal sterilizers (GECs) |
| |
Principle
In the GEC process, water is pumped from the chamber base, through a highly efficient plate heat exchanger to a unique cascade dispersal tray system in the top of the chamber. This dispersal system avoids the use of spray nozzles (which retain water and can block) and assures completely uniform water distribution over the entire width and length of the chamber. The design is modular, with each load rack in a chamber section containing a drain point and dispersal tray, forming a scalable and easily validated system. |

Sectional Jacket design
The unique sectional jacket adds strength and rigidity to the chamber, and robotic welding eliminates defects. The resulting construction ensures a long product lifecycle to safeguard your capital investment. |
| |
Laser cutting and robotic welding
The production of Getinge sterilizers involves leading-edge construction techniques and use of the highest-grade materials. Accurate laser cutting minimizes the number of construction welds. Robotic welding provides a level of weld consistency superior to manual techniques and eliminates defects in welded seams. Robotic grinding systems reduce sites of potential corrosion and allow easy cleaning. And the unique sectional jacket design provides rigidity, allows visual inspection of all welds and reduces weight. |

Stainless steel fascia panels |
| |
| Gentle process
Even if the process is rapid, it is gentle and uses controlled counter-pressure to protect delicate containers and closure systems. Internal product pressure is estimated according to product temperature and the chamber pressure is controlled accordingly to assure that pressure differential across the container and closure is minimized. |
| |
Precise, controllable process
As some parenteral products are heat labile, precise control and rapid processing is a key feature of the GEC. The unique cascade system design, high flow rates and loading system design assure temperature uniformity across the entire load. F0 deviation at process completion can be as low as 0.5 (the process may be controlled by temperature or F0). |
